Using devices I’ve fashioned from hand-blown glass, electronics, and aquatic technology, I collaborate with biological media to create mutual symbioses between art and non-human organisms. Research and development in ecology, material science, and alternative media embodies the bulk of my practice. Working with combinations of organic materials and processes, such as photosynthetic bacteria, aquatic ferns and nitrification, I craft complex and balanced biomes. These vessels and instrumentations create habitats that culture specific organisms in printed graphics and sculptural installation. Drawing and collage inspire designs, while sculpture grounds conceptual and functional relationships between materials and my work.
