Photosynthetic Image Generator, P.I.G. (2020)
Kiln formed glass, white oak, borosilicate glass, aluminum, steel, rubber, plastic, electronics, LED lights.
16 x 20 x 30 inches

The Photosynthetic Image Generation (P.I.G.) project is an alternative biological art process which produces media grown through a symbiotic relationship between an aquatic ecosystem and the graphic material it creates. This culturing tank is designed to allow efficient gas and nutrient exchange between microbes in the environment to increase their potential growth. The tank walls are made of kiln formed glass designed to fit together as modular components allowing future design modifications based on system feedback. LED lights are used to illuminate the photosynthetic reaction chambers.
